A message from the Unified Court System:

We are pleased to inform you and your membership that the New York State court system is now issuing notifications about court closings, delayed openings, scheduled changes and other emergencies by text message through Twitter. These announcements also will continue to be available on our website (www.nycourts.gov) and through our public information phone (1-800-COURTNY).

Signing up to receive emergency text messages is easy:

  • Text: follow nycourtsnotice to address 40404. You will receive an automated reply stating that you are “followingnycourtsnotice” and inviting you to “join the conversation” on Twitter (you do not need to join).
  • To stop receiving court system Twitter messages, text: off nycourtsnotice to 40404.

A Twitter account is NOT required to sign up. Note that text message charges may apply.

We appreciate your cooperation in assisting us in getting the word out about this new service. In the brief time that these emergency text messages have been available, they have proven to be a simple, efficient and fast means to convey up-to-the-minute information about the courts. If you have any questions or comments, please email Elissa Krauss at: ekrauss@nycourts.gov.

Thank you for your assistance.

                                                                                                                Very truly yours,

                                                                                                                Ronald P. Younkins, Esq.

                                                                                                                Executive Director
